Steel is an amazing material which shapes our modern civilization. Since 1850 when Henry Bessemer unlocked the method for massive steel production, steel has been used everywhere, from the small household items to skyscrapers and huge bridges. Three of the most famous construction icons of the America were built from steel: the Brooklyn Bridge, the Gateway Arch and the Empire State Building. Today, scientists are continuously searching for innovative types of steel which are stronger, more flexible, and more resistant to the elements.
